Portuguese gastronomy

Olivier Anquier is a French baker and cook and I use his website very often to get some tips and recipes. I remember that he finaly decided to investigate the Portuguese cooking style and he felt in love with it. I mean, who wouldn't?  He even said that he doesn't know why it took him so long to discover Portugal. I can't understand why Portugal is not one of the main gastronomy destinations in Europe. I just can't.

Why?

I have been trying several recipes that I create, surprisingly with success, but I am too lazy to post it. Why? Why am I like this?

Short story

It's Sunday, 12:39 pm. I hear someone climbing my house's  stairs and knocking on my door. I remain still. The person knocks violently and insists on turning and twisting the door's knob. The Jeova witnesses finally give it up and go down the stairs, probably blaming the devil, but themselves.

Yuca and potato soup

Today I did a soup and came out very good.
I boiled potatos, yuca, carrots and celery, and a little bit of ham. Olive oil and a little bit of salt. I left boiling in a very low heat until the yuca and potatos were disintegrating....
then I pressed them with a wooden spoon, added a little bit of milk and an equal part of water. Fresh black peper gave a special touch.

Served with grated parmesan on top.
The quantities depend on how many mouths will share the soup. For me, I used two big potatos and a small yuca. Everything else was eye balled in equal parts. The quantity of water depends on the heat you use, and how much you will boil it.

Yum, yum!

Yeah, well, I am not practicing the good writing as we can see.
Let's see if inspiration comes around!

Hey, there!!!

I came up with the idea for this blog while sleeping... I had sent me an email for the name, and came back to sleep.
Well, I do have a French name, just another French name....
I wanna use this blog for everything that comes along: recipes, general comments, and first and foremost, to practice writing good things. I explain: after reading my old diaries, I've realized that I only write when upset, making a really difficult time when I have to write something nice.
So, here it goes!

Yesterday I've cooked cheese topped steaks and I was surprised of how great it came out! It was served with aspargos (olive oil and pepper) and rice.

Tomorrow I will probably make a white sauce (with ground meat and ricota) lasanha. For today, I still have some steaks to go!

Talking about "to go" my sudden interest on cooking it is not helping my extra 10lb to leave.... but this is another story... =)
